My first experience at one of these events, and it was its 40th birthday!!! They have a very well organized festival, water taps through out, composting program for food vendors, they have certainly addressed many things over their 40 years. A very family oriented event as well, lots of activities for children, and 8 stages of music of all different tastes for all of us. I read some place that 25,000 people go, that was from years back and I can’t find a more recent number.
What else impressed me? The public art of course-
Flower Mandalas, Glass sculptures
, 40 yarn bombed trees in tribute to their 40 years of existence, a large central beam sculpture, a metal 
tree, markers for tarp areas, costumed stilt walkers, larger than life people, POY scarf/ribbon/glow in dark balls, 
self expression EVERYWHERE!!! And for children a big tent full of things the can let thier imagination soar with and create.
